چکیده

The recent adoption of ubiquitous computing technologies has enabled the capture of large amounts of spatio-temporal data about human motion. The digital footprints computed from these datasets provide complementary information for the study of social and human dynamics, with applications in urban planning and transportation. In this context, cell phones and cell phone networks, due to its pervasiveness, can be considered sensors of human behavior and as such, can be used as proxies to study urban environments. In this paper we describe three applications that present the potential of using cell phone networks infrastructures for modeling urban dynamics: (1) the identification of dense areas; (2) the identification and classification of land uses and (3) the identification of routes within an urban landscape. Our approach provides a complementary source of information for traditional urban analysis techniques without the limitations that these techniques have.

Consensus clustering for urban land use analysis using cell phone network data

Pervasive large-scale infrastructures, such as cell phone networks, have the ability to capture individual digital footprints, and as a result, generate datasets that provide a new vision on human dynamics. In this context, cell phones and cell phone networks, due to its ubiquity, can be considered one of the main sensors of human behavior. The information collected by these networks can be use...

Dynamic Spatial Analysis of Urban Travel Survey Data using GIS

GIS-T is already recognized as an important domain for the analysis of urban transportation context. However, for the visualization of planning and modeling situations, some new tasks have to be deployed to illustrate complex phenomena emerging from large-scale regional telephone-interviewed household travel survey data such as those conducted at a 5% sampling in Montreal, every five years (400...

The exploitation of “Grade of Membership (GoM) model” and “Combined Analysis method” in analysing of urban dynamics and urban hierarchy in Khorasan region (1956-2016)

Concerning the importance of urban network studies and the role of hierarchy system in population decentralization in metropolitan areas, this paper by using acknowledged indicators and Grade of Membership (GoM) model and using Combined Analysis method has tried to find the changes in urban hierarchy of Khorasan region during the period 1956-2016. The outcomes show that urban system in Khorasan...
